Abstract:
The work is part of research carried out with the aim investigation of the possibility for applying selective flocculation of limonite from sludge in iron ore processing. Selective flocculation is one of the methods that can be applied for the separation iron minerals from impurities such as clay. For the purpose of characterization of samples it has been performed mineralogical and chemical analysis and determination of particle size distribution. Mineralogical analysis was done using XRD analysis and polarization microscopy. Particle size analysis of samples was performed using sedimentation method for sludge and sieve analyzes (wet and dry) for limonite and clay samples. This study examines the influence of type and concentration flocculants, dispersant and pH value on the rate of deposition patterns.
The results show that using the reagents based on polyacrylamide significantly enhances the rate of deposition, particularly in the case of limonite. The pH value of medium influences the rate of limonite deposition but not clay deposition.
