Abstract:
Cadmium-sulfide is known as a very good semiconducting material, which crystals found application in production of optical devices, such as lasers. However, in the last time, this material is extensively used in solar cells production, but in combination with some other materials. In this paper, cadmium-sulfide is synthesized from cadmium-acetate as a starting material. Analysis of synthesized material was made by UV/VIS spectroscopy. Based on measured values, which show that this material is direct semiconductor, further analysis were made and band gap energy was determined (2,3 eV). Using Henglein ̓s equation, diameter of synthesized particle was calculated and has value around 5 nm. This simple and economic way is great for synthesis of materials which could be used in solar cells, thin-film transistors, lasers production.
